Subscription sent to collections

I subscribed for the watches, not for the magazines. I paid $4.95 for the subscription. I waited for the Man's watch but kept getting magazines and not the Man's watch until one day I get an application to fill out and send back to get the Man's Watch. I felt this was too much hassle, so I threw the application for the man's watch away. I thought I unscribed the same day when I threw the man's watch application away. Magazines kept coming and so did a collection bill totaling $213.72. Not once did National Magazine Exchange notify me in an email, or letter of my delinquent account. Because if they did I would have unscribed immediately! Since, National Magazine exchange put me in collections my credit score fell 42pts. Therefore, I can't even rent an apartment or get credit for a candy bar. Angeee I am!

User's recommendation: Don't subscribe, because one way or the other National Magazine Exchange is going to get the better of you!

Why did National Magazine Exchange put me in collections?

I did subscribe to National Magazine Exchange, not for the magazines but to get the Man's watch. I don't read much and I told the sales lady this. You know how persistent these sales people are, so I subscribed. I waited for the Man's watch but to find an application in the mailbox to get the Man's Watch. Too much hassle I threw it away. I believed that I unscribed from Magazine Exchange but I kept on getting magazines in the mail plus a $213.72 collection bill. Not once did National Magazine exchange email me to let me know that I needed to pay and which, if they did I would've unscribed at that time. Since then my credit score fell 42 points and now I can't even rent an apartment!

User's recommendation: Don't subscribe unless you like to read and have a lot of money.

Wife was scammed

my wife called and gave them her bank info right away she does things like this because she is naive. they tried to sell her magazines she said no then she received a bill for 278.00 listing strange magazines they threatened her with turning her in to credit bureau.

User's recommendation: hang up.

You need to contact your bank and have them change/cancel that bank account and open a new one based on potential fraud, etc. As for the bill just ignore it.

Since they have your bank account info you best move quickly before they use it to take the money. As for your wife, best to start training her to just say no to everyone about anything on the phone and tell them her husband handles all this and that she is not allowed to give out any info over the phone and they can call back and talk to you. Some of us learned this early on in our marriage. Eventually, with repetition your wife will get it.

Comes the dawn. We commiserate.

Did not want the service

I told the advertiser/representative that called me I didn't want the service so we continued on with conversation. Finally I gave him a credit card number that I knew wasn't going to allow him to get anything more than what he stated that day which $4.95. That amount went went through but he tried for several larger amounts and they didn't go go through. However, I haven't received anything from this company and they're still trying to hit that credit card. Good luck if they feel they're gonna collect on me. They need to just cancel the subscription to whatever it is they've signed me up for because they won't get another penny out of me!!!

Big scam

I read the reviews and complaints about National Magazine Exchange. But I decided to call anyway. No sooner then the representative asked for my name and ID number. I flat out told him I read your company take and sale people information is that true?? That was the end of the call. His response was I'LL PUT YOU ON ARE DO NOT CALL LIST." LOLLOLLOL If that's not a scam I don't know what is!!!

User's recommendation: Ask if they take and sale people info. The representative I encountered got off the phone so fast I thought I was about to get whip lash!!!

National Magazine Scam!!!

Don't waste any of your time calling this company, like the other complaints I have read. I got the sweepstakes letter to win $500K- $1.1 mil. just call the 1800 number and NO PURCHASE is necessary to enter. So I also called and wasted about 10-15 minutes of my time explaining to these people that I DO NOT want or need any of their magazines I just want to enter in the sweepstakes. Like with the other person from Jacksonville, The woman on the phone kept giving me names of magazines and saying "pick 2" then I said " NO I do not want any magazines I just want to enter for the prize" then I was told " we have wood ,architecture, vogue, cosmo, good house keeping, rolling stones, etc.. over and over again! pick 2" again and to sweeten the pot", the woman said they will also throw in a watch with a diamond stud and a $25.00 Visa gift card". I also got so pissed off that I just hung up! I absolutely agree that this was a BIG waste of time! They will NOT enroll you for the sweepstakes unless you buy a magazine and that is fraud to me when their letter says you don't have to buy anything!!!! My advice is to just THROW AWAY the sweepstakes letter. My next contact is going to be registering a complaint with the B.B.B. In this day and age the last thing we need is more magazines.

This is a glorified Scam

I was waiting for personal information questions and then it happened! What is your debit or credit card number, she asked? When I told her that I dont give that information on the phone, she tried to sweet talk me into giving it anyway. I promptly hung up the phone. By the way, when I dialed their number, my phone identified it immediately as SCAM:GAME. Be careful!

User's recommendation: Do not fall for this game.
